Charleston in January might be quieter than the summer months, but that doesn’t mean the fun has slowed down — especially for pups and their people! Check out our curated lineup of pup-friendly local events this month.
1. 2nd Sunday on King Street
Date: January 11
Time: 12-5pm
Location: King Street, Downtown Charleston
Leashed dogs are welcome at this monthly event along King Street, between Queen and Calhoun Streets. The street becomes a pedestrian zone where visitors can stroll freely, check out local businesses, enjoy outdoor shopping, admire artwork from curated artists, and indulge in offerings from food vendors.
2. Low Country Dog Agility
Date: January 17-18
Location: Low Country Dog Training Field
Visit our website to register your dog for the upcoming agility test in January. There are various time slots available. You can register to volunteer too!
3. Fairy House Day
Date: January 24
Time: 10-12pm or 12-2pm
Location: Palmetto Island County Park
Bring your family and leashed pups for a fun day building miniature fairy houses. There will be crafts, face painting, Library story time, a "real" fairy onset for pictures, music, games and more!
4. Barks and Bushels Oyster Roast and Adoption Event
Date: January 25
Time: 1-4pm
Location: Southern Roots Smokehouse
Join us for our Barks & Bushels event, in partnership with The Charleston Animal Society. Enjoy an All-You-Can-Eat experience for $30, and receive a $10 gift card to Southern Roots Smokehouse by bringing a bag of dog food to donate.
January in Charleston brings dog lovers a fun mix of street strolls, social meetups, and community events that are perfect for bonding with your pooch. Whether you’re grabbing oysters at Barks & Bushels, hitting up 2nd Sunday on King Street, or just meeting up with pups at a local park, there’s plenty to do with your furry best friend.
