Charleston’s mild winter weather makes February a perfect month to get out and explore the city with your dog. From outdoor runs to community festivals and pup-friendly fitness events, there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy!

1. Puppy Love 5K Run/Walk

Date: February 7th

Time: 9am

Location: Palmetto Island County Park

Kick off February with an active and heartwarming event designed for both people and pups. The annual Puppy Love 5K Run/Walk welcomes leashed, well-socialized dogs to join their humans on a scenic course through Palmetto Islands County Park.

2. Puppy Bowl IX

Date: February 7th

Time: 12-3pm

Location: Towne Centre

Pup Bowl IX is a lively, family-friendly event hosted by Charleston Animal Society. This playful afternoon features dog-themed activities, entertainment, and opportunities to connect with fellow pet lovers.

3. Southeastern Wildlife Exposition (SEWE) and DockDogs

Date: February 13-15th

Location: Brittlebank Park

While SEWE is not exclusively a dog event, it’s a favorite February tradition in Charleston and includes dog-friendly attractions. The DockDogs competitions at Brittlebank Park showcase impressive canine athleticism as dogs compete in jumping and retrieval challenges.

4. Pulse & Pups Fitness and Adoption Event

Date: February 21st

Time: 11-12:30pm

Location: The Garden by Charles Towne Fermentory

This unique event combines fitness, fun, and furry companionship. Participants enjoy a guided workout followed by time spent with adoptable dogs from a local rescue organization.

Throughout February, local shelters and rescue organizations often host pop-up adoption events, pet meet-and-greets, and community gatherings at parks and partner locations. These smaller events are another great way to socialize your dog and meet fellow dog lovers!
